Chapelle Notre-Dame-de-la-Préservation et cathédrale Saint-Etienne. -Fonds Boudeau (B176-n°2978) Devant cette chapelle du boulevard de la Corderie s’écoulait le ruisseau d’Enjoumard (surnommé le Merdanson) qui, charriant les détritus et l’eau souillée sur plus d’un kilomètre, depuis l’actuel quartier de la place de la République, allait se jeter dans la Vienne. On pouvait le traverser à un petit gué situé à cet endroit, c’est pourquoi cette chapelle était également appelée Notre-Dame-de-la-Planchette. Dans cette chapelle, les Limougeauds demandaient à la Vierge de protéger leur ville des maladies infectieuses que pouvait véhiculer un tel égout à ciel ouvert. cote : fonds Boudeau, boite 176 (Bfm Limoges)

Croix de la chapelle Saint-Aurélien Cette croix monolithique en calcaire, avec son socle en granit, se trouvait avant la Révolution dans l’ancien couvent des Carmes. Elle décore, depuis lors, l’entrée de la chapelle Saint-Aurélien (bâtie vers 1475), saint patron des bouchers de Limoges. cote : Fonds Boudeau-Boîte 189 (Bfm Limoges)

Chapelle de la Visitation, Limoges Gravure extraite de l' "Historique monumental de l'ancienne province du Limousin". Située rue François Chénieux à Limoges, cette chapelle fut érigée en 1775, lors de la construction du couvent des Visitandines. Elle est occupée par les religieuses jusqu'à la Révolution. Elle est est alors transformée en tribunal révolutionnaire puis civil, avant d'abriter une pharmacie puis une infirmerie pendant la guerre de 1914/1918. Ancien élève de l'Ecole des Arts et Métiers d'Angers, Jean-Baptiste Tripon s'installe imprimeur-lithographe à Limoges. Son ouvrage majeur est celui-ci. Imprimé en plusieurs livraisons, l'exemplaire original de 1837 est devenu rare. Les érudits du XIXe siècle sont déjà très critiques sur son contenu. Alfred Leroux estime en 1888 que "c'est un fatras sans critique, une compilation lourde et terne". Il en demeure des lithographies parfois fantaisistes, voire divertissantes. cote : MAG.P LIM 33272/2

Chapelle Saint-Aurélien La chapelle Saint-Aurélien, située rue de la Boucherie, n’a que peu changé depuis sa construction en 1471. Conçue pour abriter les reliques de saint Aurélien, deuxième évêque de Limoges et saint patron des bouchers, elle est agrandie au 17e siècle. La chapelle présente quelques éléments remarquables : le clocher à bulbe couvert de bardeaux de châtaignier, la croix de calcaire qui jouxte l’entrée et l’intérieur baroque richement décoré. Acquise à la Révolution par les bouchers, la chapelle est toujours la propriété de la confrérie de saint Aurélien, héritière de cette corporation. Jean-Baptiste Audiguet (1811-1897) est un des premiers à photographier cette célèbre et pittoresque rue de la Boucherie. Il nous montre au premier un groupe de femmes venant chercher de l'eau à la fontaine. On peut observer ce que l'on appelle en photographie des "fantômes" : personnages mouvant lors de la prise de vue qui ne laissent qu'une trace plus ou moins dessinée sur la plaque. cote : 9Fi502/31 (Bfm Limoges)
